I am Gaël Peltier, an independent perfumer and founder of Horizons Olfactifs.
My journey into perfumery began through books. Those early readings gradually awakened a genuine passion, soon followed by visits to specialised museums, encounters with perfumers and fellow professionals, and the exploration of raw materials as well as the art of composition itself.
As this journey unfolded, I came to understand that perfumery was opening the door to a world of infinite possibilities, where imagination does not rely solely on references drawn from visual culture. I discovered within it a sensory language of remarkable richness, capable of evoking emotions, suggesting impressions, and giving life to an inner world through scent.
Blind since the age of nine, I naturally committed myself to learning perfumery by adapting my practice to this reality. Within my creative studio, I now develop my compositions through formulation, evaluation, and a constant search for balance.
A talking laboratory scale allows me to carry out weighing with precision, while raw materials are identified through braille labelling. A computer equipped with screen-reading technology enables me to write, consult, and organise the entirety of my formulas.
For me, perfumery is a space of exploration where raw materials, emotions, memories, and imagination engage in dialogue through the subtle language of scent. Each composition is both a quest for balance and the discovery of new olfactory horizons.
